Baylor has already put the brakes on what seems to be an imminent move to the SEC for Texas A&M. Now, Iowa State has joined the party.
According to a report in the Des Moines Register, Iowa State says it has not waived its legal rights to sue either Texas A&M or the SEC regarding the school's move from the Big 12 to the SEC.
“There has been no waiver of any legal rights,” said Iowa State spokesman John McCarroll, speaking for school president Gregory Geoffroy.
McCarroll told the paper that no other school asked Iowa State to join in a lawsuit. (Translation: Baylor didn't tell us to do this.)
Iowa State could have a lot to lose if the Big 12 breaks up, which could happen if Texas A&M leaves for the SEC and Oklahoma decides to leave and play in the Pac-12.
Iowa State could land in the Big East or perhaps in a conference without an automatic qualifying bid to the SEC. It appears that like Baylor, the school is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that possibility isn't entertained.
