Mike Williams, Ben Obomanu Remain Uncertain for Week 14

Defensive tackle Colin Cole and tight end Jon Carlson returned to Seahawks practice Wednesday, but for the most part the injuries that are bedeviling the Seattle roster remain fairly murky.

Top wide receiver Mike Williams is no longer wearing a plastic walking boot necessitated by a strained right foot, but he still has a sprained right ankle. He didn't practice Wednesday and isn't expected to practice Thursday, either.

"They are going to try him out and do some things with him through the process and see if they can get him going,'' coach Pete Carroll told the Seahawks' press corps, the "they'' in his quote being the Seattle medical crew. "We're going to give him a couple of days here.''

Another player getting Wednesday and Thursday off is receiver Ben Obomanu, who is recovering from lacerations received Sunday in a win over Carolina.

"We're going to give him a couple of days before we do anything with him,'' Carroll said. "(We'll) let everything quiet down, but (we're) holding out hope that those guys still have a chance to play.''

Left guard Chester Pitts also didn't practice on Wednesday, and that was enough for Carroll to say Pitts wouldn't be playing on Sunday for the third consecutive game. Part of that is the injury, a sprained ankle, but part is also the play of replacement Mike Gibson.

"Mike's doing well,'' Carroll said. "I don't think we would do anything right now. We would certainly wait and see how Chester comes back. But with the efforts toward continuity, why we would go do it again, change it again?

"I think Mike's earning his way, and Chester's got to make it back out there and look good and (be) prepared and (be) really ready to contribute. Then we'll just wait and see and let the competition play itself out.''

Cole, meanwhile, returned to workouts after missing five games thanks to a high ankle sprain, an injury type that has dogged Seattle this year. He was hurt on Oct. 31 against the Raiders.
