Bart Scott wants to convert a viral phenomenon into health care funds for a football brother. In an interview with ESPN's Sal Paolantonio after the New York Jets shocked the New England Patriots in the playoffs, Scott barked "Can't wait!" at the idea of meeting the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship Game.
Video of the exchange was wildly popular. Scott trademarked "Can't wait!" for a clothing line, causing many to roll their eyes.
But Scott revealed to NFL.com contributor Kristian Dyer money made off the catchphrase will go to Eric LeGrand, the Rutgers linebacker who was paralyzed from the shoulders down last October in a game against Army.
"I've never met him, but I heard he's a great kid," Scott told Dyer. "He has a lot of concerns and needs right now, but I know someday he will walk, and that's something I can't wait for.
"I want to do something for him, to help him. I hope we'll sell out the shirts quickly so we can get the money to him because things are expensive with his care, and I know there are money needs."
Big East blogger Andrea Adelson wrote last week about LeGrand's progress. He's in a wheelchair, but recently tweeted he's feeling twitches throughout his body.
