Following UFC 147, Alex Davis says Brazil's regional scene needs to fill UFC gap

Despite the many hurdles in place for this past weekend's UFC 147 event, the world's largest MMA promotion set a company attendance record for fight cards held in the country with a reported 16,643 fans attending the show.

It was the company's third Brazilian event in less than one year, and the country now seems to be a prime market for the UFC.

But just how much has the sport of MMA grown in the country? Brazilian resident and longtime MMA manager Alex Davis said things are moving in the right direction, but it's up to the country's smaller shows to push things to the next level.
