Illinois still shut out of Derby qualifying races

Churchill Downs rejects appeal from Hawthorne to elevate status of Illinois Derby

Churchill Downs has rejected Hawthorne Race Course President Tim Carey's appeal that the Grade III $500,000 Illinois Derby be added to the newly instituted and highly controversial list of qualifying races for the Kentucky Derby.
