'Fitz' is AFC Offensive Player of the Month

Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was named AFC Offensive Player of the Month by the NFL on Thursday. Fitzpatrick led the Bills to a surprising 3-0 start in September, which includes Sunday's 34-31 upset of the New England Patriots.

Fitzpatrick, a former seventh-round draft pick, threw for 841 yards, nine touchdowns and three interceptions in three games. He is second in the AFC in touchdowns passes behind Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (11).

"I think it is a tremendous honor," Fitzpatrick said in a statement. "It really shows how well our offense has played. Whenever you receive an award like that it's not just because of one guy, it reflects the whole team."

The Bills will try to stay undefeated this weekend when they travel to play the Cincinnati Bengals (1-2).
