2 sides far apart on new deal as union gets set to brief members with lockout looming Sept. 15

The hierarchy of the NHL Players' Association will gather in Rosemont on Thursday and Friday to update approximately 40 of its members on the status of negotiations with the league on a new collective bargaining agreement.
