Andre Johnson on Monday officially pulled out of the 2011 Pro Bowl.The announcement by the Houston Texans made official what had been assumed for the last several weeks, Johnson -- who was selected to his fifth Pro Bowl in eight NFL seasons late last month -- would not play after having missed the last two games of the regular season with an ankle injury.
Johnson, considered by many the NFL's top wide receiver, fought through 13 games this season with the aftereffects of a high-ankle sprain sustained in a Week 2 victory over Washington.
Johnson was voted a starter to this year's Pro Bowl, catching 86 passes for 1,216 yards and eight touchdowns.
He was scheduled to undergo arthroscopic surgery the week after the regular season, one that ended with the Texans losing eight of their final 10 games.
