Vikings Reportedly Looking to Make Leslie Frazier Officially Head Coach

Filed under:

Leslie FrazierDiscussions between Minnesota Vikings interim coach Leslie Frazier and the organization are trending toward making Frazier head coach next season. This according to sources close to the situation.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting that both sides are seriously discussing removing the interim tag following Sunday's season finale against Detroit. Neither the Vikings nor Frazier have made any public comments regarding the situation directly.

Frazier took over after Brad Childress was fired in November, and he's dealt with significant turmoil -- most of which surrounded quarterback Brett Favre. The Vikings have gone 3-2 since Frazier took over, including Tuesday's surprise win over Philadelphia behind rookie quarterback Joe Webb. Two of the wins came away from Minnesota, snapping the team's nine-game losing streak on the road.

Frazier has interviewed for several head coaching jobs in the past, but has yet to hold the position until this season. If he is let go, Minnesota will join Carolina, Denver, Dallas, and San Francisco in searching for a new coach.
