Strikeforce middleweight champion Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza is expected defend his belt for the first time when he meets the heavy-handed Robbie Lawler at a Jan. 29 Strikeforce event.

A source close to the event today confirmed the title fight's possibility with MMAjunkie.com after MMAFighting.com reported it over the weekend.

Official word from Strikeforce could come by the end of the day.
