The Philadelphia Eagles can clinch the NFC East this weekend. The New York Giants can clinch a playoff spot. The last-place Dallas Cowboys can clinch a winning record (and maybe a permanent job) for interim coach Jason Garrett. And then there are the reeling Washington Redskins, losers of four straight games and six of seven, team which won't have its leading sack man (outside linebacker Brian Orakpo), right defensive end (Kedric Golston), fill-in strong safety (Reed Doughty) and perhaps its standout return man (Brandon Banks) and its free safety (Kareem Moore) on Sunday at Jacksonville because of injuries suffered in the past two defeats.
The Redskins are also the NFC East's kings of intrasquad squabbles. First, of course, there was the nine-month epic of Albert Haynesworth vs. Mike Shanahan. On Thursday, we learned that ends Adam Carriker and Jeremy Jarmon went at it, at least loudly verbally, the other day. And of course, we have the from Halloween to Christmas (and beyond?) saga of Donovan McNabb vs. The Shanahans.
Friday was offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan's turn to fire back at the claims issued on Thursday by McNabb's agent, Fletcher Smith (neither Mike Shanahan nor McNabb wanted any part of the action publicly).
