Jets assistant sorry for tripping Dolphins player

The New York Post reports: Jets strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi issued a statement apologizing for sticking out his leg and tripping the Dolphins' Nolan Carroll, who was racing down the sidelines on punt coverage during Sunday's 10-6 Miami victory.

"I made a mistake that showed a total lapse in judgment," Alosi said. "My conduct was inexcusable and unsportsmanlike and does not reflect what this organization stands for. I spoke to Coach Sparano and Nolan Carroll to apologize before they took off. I have also apologized to Woody, Mike and Rex. I accept responsibility for my actions as well as any punishment that follows."

A Jets spokesperson said the team is reviewing the situation and "looking into the appropriate next steps."

Dolphins players accused the Jets of playing dirty.

"They're cheaters -- they do what they do," Channing Crowder said. "They cheat and talk junk and they do all that stuff but we beat the hell out of them today. I tell you the truth, I would have broke that old man's leg."
